Making some changes around your home may help you avoid slips and falls that might cause a serious injury. For example:
Corral loose cords. Keep phone and power cords out of the areas where you walk. Clear away other possible hazards, like pet or kid toys, too.
Secure loose rugs. If you have throw rugs, consider removing them or securing them with double-sided tape.
Use good lighting. Replace or upgrade bulbs to make sure you have enough light, especially around stairs and hallways. Consider nightlights to reduce risks at night.
Keep a clear path. Rearrange any furniture that’s in the way of your walking path.
Install grab bars. Consider installing grab bars near your tub and toilet.
